(Seke, 1985)
Richard Mudariki (1985), dopo una formazione come archeologo, studia pittura (2000-2007) presso la Delta Gallery, insieme alla mentore Helen Leiros.
Le opere di Richard, dal forte valore narrativo, commentano diversi aspetti della vita in Zimbabwe e, in generale, nel continente africano.
Le sue mostre personali più recenti comprendono Mubvakure (2019), Gallery Polaris, Parigi; Politics of Painting (2019), 1- 54 Contemporary Art Fair, New York, Mawonero Angu (2018), Barnard Gallery, Città del Capo, e una retrospettiva sui primi anni di lavoro intitolata Mutara Wenguva (TimeLine) presso la Sanlam Art Collection di Johannesburg e Città del Capo. Mudariki ha inoltre preso parte a diverse Piattaforme d’arte internazionali a Londra, Parigi, Città del Capo, Milano e New York.
Le mostre collettive più recenti includono Artist United (2020), Galerie Polaris, Parigi; African Characters (2020), OSART Gallery, Milano; Five Bhob, Painting at the End of an Era (2019), Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa situato a Città del Capo, un’esposizione itinerante intitolata Centennial: 100 Years of Collecting organizzata dalla Sanlam Art Collection (2019) e Filling the Gap (2019) alla South African National Gallery a Città del Capo.
Mudariki ha raccontato la sua ricerca artistica in varie occasioni internazionali; di recente, in occasione di 1-54 Contemporary African Art in New York, ha preso parte al palinsesto Without a name: Living and working in between Spaces, e alla tavola rotonda dedicata alla discussione sull’arte contemporanea africana e nel suo ecosistema ad UNESCO, Parigi, come parte del Dipartimento di Discussione Africa.
L’artista vive e lavora a Cape Town, Sud Africa.
